Far from the Gulf Coast, the impact of Katrina has been felt here in Molossia. For over a week, our government has worked closely with the local National Guard in coordinating and supporting relief operations. Long hours have been spent in the Emergency Operations Center of the National Guard, and have been spent as well helping to deploy America's citizen soldiers to the southeastern United States.
Here in Molossia, last Thursday, His Excellency, The President ordered our flag to be lowered to half staff in memory of those who lost their lives to Katrina's wrath. The flag flew at half staff for three days. Beyond that, work continues in conjunction with the National Guard, to coordinate relief efforts. Although our resources are small, The President has directed that we seek to adopt a Katrina "refugee", of the four legged kind. In addition, our nation has directed a monetary donation to relief efforts, a small token of our support for those who have suffered and continue to suffer in the wake of this disaster.
